seeing as you guys seem like you know your cultural music, who's delved under the veil and tried to replicate what you hear?
when i was nine i started teaching myself written music, like notes and how to write them and everything else. i was able to convert this writing to guitar but i can't do it with piano. when i was ten my grandmother tried to teach my sisters and i piano but it didn't really work out. a year after that i started messing around with a guitar and i've had an on/off relationship with it since. in the last month or so i've been feeling an impulse to take up piano again
what about you cosmo

Viola, Trumpet, Recorder, Keyboard, Mandolin.
However I'm not particularly "godly" in any of these.

It's a string instrument, it uses a pluck apparently. My Grandma gave it to me.

i have a dream where three other online friends get on skype, we write a song, record our instruments and sing it via skype and then look at the end product.

I'm an avid flute (5 years - my main), viola (2 years), guitar (2 years as well) and sax (3 years) player. I was self-teaching myself on the Piano a few months, but quit due to general lack of interest. I know how to read sheet music, but sight reading is sometimes a bit of a chore considering I enjoy playing more by ear (correctly, of course) than sheet music. Sheet music kills a lot of creativity IMO and there is not a lot of room for improv.

I played Trombone for about 3 years in school.
I wasn't very good at reading sheet music so I copied the guy next to me....nobody ever called me out on it.
I was second chair the whole time. I'd be more proud of that if the other people in the section weren't horrible at the instrument. ):

You know, I really hate it when I see people post videos about kids playing an instrument, and then the videos mention their age. "Rachel, 13, jazz flute player" - it's as if they want me to lower standards based on age and be like, "Wow, you're amazing and I'm only 16." - As if age is a substitute for practice.
